This was my first love in photography. The simple, graphic compositions made in the camera were followed by the joy of hand printing under the enlarger, in the darkroom. Complete control, dodging and burning under the safelight until the finished print perfectly expressed what I 'saw' in my mind's eye as I pre-visualised the shot.
Now of course I use the same essential perceptive skills but in photoshop and on the computer.
I have a huge body of monochrome work, all negatives filed and kept and I am still happy to produce prints on fibre based papers, archivally processed for a very long life! This is a time consuming, dying art - hand printed art work is becoming highly collectible!
